The mission and purpose of the Geneva Lions Club is consistent with the goals of Lions of Illinois and Lions International. Our club raises money primarily for the benefit persons who suffer from sight and/or hearing disabilities. A smaller percentage of funds is donated to local community organizations. The budget for 2003 - 2004 went to the following:

Sight and Hearing

Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind
Diecke Center for Visual Rehabilitation
Eye Exams & Glasses
Foundation Fighting Blindness
Glenwood School
Hadley School for the Blind
Leader Dogs for the Blind
Lions of Illinois Foundation (Camp Lions)
St. Charles Library
Tri City Health Partnership
Waubonsee Foundation

Community Related Organizations

Boy Scouts
CASA of Kane County
Fox Valley Hospice
Lazarus House
Salvation Army Golden Diners
Scholarships
Suicide Prevention Services
Tri City Family Service

Wheelchair Foundation (www.wheelchairfoundation.org) is a special mission that the Geneva Lions Club has taken on for this fiscal year. In addition to our commitment to raise funds for the blind and deaf, our members will give extra support for a another most worthwhile cause. We are supporting Kenneth Behring's foundation which is committed to providing a wheelchair to every person in the world who can not walk and can not afford to buy one. Mobility, something most of us rarely think about, brings hope and joy into the life of a person who is otherwise imprisoned by their physical limitation.
